Check the USPS web site (www.uspc.gov) to see all recent press releases and
FAQs. They have contracted with the Titan Corporation of San Diego who is
subcontracting the SureBeam Corporation for the irradiation equipment
(www.surebeamcorp.com). I went to the Sure Beam web site and found their
equipment uses electonic means to produce an ionizing stream of electons that
disrupt the DNA of bacteria. What it would do to DNA in seeds is anyone's
guess. Perhaps someone at the USDA or Fish and Wildlife might know. There
have probably been many tests conducted and published somewhere. They also
claim that their systems produce "virtually no heat" whatever that means.
