Help on Lysichiton secreted substance

Does anyone on the list have any ideas that could help out Kevin with a
Lysichton americanum question per the note below? Please reply to the list
so that all can learn, or to Kevin directly.

A shot in the dark request...have you any idea of the name of the specific
substance secreted by western Skunk Cabbage (Lysichoton americanum) that
gives it the sickly sweet smell? I am helping a friend's son on a school
science project and we have, through the help of a horticulturalist friend,
determined that is probably some amine or indole, but we would like to try
to discover the specific chemical/substance, if known.
