Dear Rob,
Are you aware of A. Hay`s work "On the identity of Alocasia brisbanensis
(F.M. Bailey) Domin" in Aroideana 12, 1989, pgs26-31 ? Alistair says that
A. macrorrizos "is neither wild nor even extensively escaped" in Australia,
and the plant that has been for years wrongly identified as this species, is
in fact another species, A. brisbanensis. Like A macrorrizos, A.
brisbanensis also is recorded as producing bright red berries . He lists
at least 8 major differences between the two.
