Hi Jason,
Yes, I spoke too soon. When I looked at the email Russ forwarded to
me, I realized that he - and you - are subscribed in "digest mode",
receiving (usually) one email per day containing all the accumulated
Aroid-L posts for that day, rather than receiving them as they are
posted.
The rules are a bit different for digest mode, and it makes sense
that attachments be scrubbed there, since on an active day with a
bunch of big attachments the digest might easily become too large to
manage if they were left in. (Both of the emails I have subscribed
to Aroid-L are in non-digest mode.)
As you say, the scrubbed attachment is kept on the Aroid-L server
and there is a link to where you can view it. I'm not sure how long
they are kept - that seems to be a setting up above the individual
list level.

Once upon a time, we were much more strict,
but currently we don't scrub
any attachments. If a post, including
attachments, exceeds 10MB in size
then it will be held until I notice it and
take action. (Since we turned
off moderation a year or so back, I've gotten
a bit lazy about my
monitoring, so that might be a few days.)
I received the images from Geoffrey without
any issues on two different
email accounts, so I think the list is
functioning as expected and
there's something going on on Russ's end.
Russ, I'll email you directly
and see if we can figure out what's
happening.

I had no problem with receiving the photos up here in
Wisconsin (Spectrum Cable). You could check with your
service provider.

I believe that the scrubbing of attachments is standard
aroid-l procedure, and that scrubbed images instead appear
on the ias website.

Geoffrey, I never get photos with emails posted here, always
a comment about being "scrubbed" for unknown reason.
Would you mind forwarding your pics to me at bluesea14808@yahoo.com
There are many spathiphyllums sold here in the US, the
biggest of which seems to be Sensation. It does fit your
description in having large, wide leaves of heavy substance,
with sunken veins giving it a ribbed look.
