Subject: [Aroid-l] Tricia Frank's Home and Garden
Attached is a note from Chayo Frank.
I'm sure most of you remember Tricia Frank, and many of you have visited her incredible home and garden. This is to inform that it now is for sale.
For those not familiar with her garden, the property is located in probably the best area of Miami and is only 2 blocks away from Fairchild Tropical Garden.
It was originally a rock pit and home and garden were developed to take advantage of this fact. Tricia then added an incredible amount of rare and exotic aroids, heliconia, palms, cycads, to name only a few of plant specimens, in a atmosphere of Ficus trees and their roots, Live Oaks, and rock grottos that surround the home. Pathways flow between the curvilinear planting plateaus through-out the garden.
The house was designed by Chayo Frank to allow views of this beautiful garden on all sides. Though its steel structure enables large, interior spatial expanses, it is entirely encased in beam covers and column covers of beautiful, California redwood, which also is used for the walls. Another beautiful element of the design is the use of extremely large coral rock boulders for a serpentine wall that delineates the various interior spaces. There is also a large pool and patio that is great for entertaining, as is the main interior space of the home.
Even though the house does have 3 bedrooms, it is definitely more suitable for a couple, than a family with children. It is, of course, especially desirable by those in love with tropical plants in a totally insulated, tropical paradise.
