Subject: Re: [Aroid-l] Helicodiceros moved to Dracunculus????
Hi Alan,
Your rumour is a bit out-dated: Helicodiceros was in fact 'moved' to Dracunculus 1857! [Dracunculus muscivorus (L.f.) Parl., Fl. Ital. 2: 252 (1857).]
However, recent molecular analyses (e.g., Mansion et al 2008 [Systematic Biology 57(2), 269–285] have not only strongly supported that Helicodicerous is 'good' but that it is not even particularly closely related to Dracunculus, it is sister to Eminium.
Dracunculus is sister to a clade comprising Gymnomesium (i.e., Arum pictum) + Arum.

Could anyone (perhaps those involved) shed any light on this rumor?
If it's true I've got a lot of labels to rewrite!
