From: <ju-bo at msn.com> on 2009.09.11 at 15:39:25(20001) Dear Vincent, There is no mention of ''natural'' variegation in Dracontium amazonense in the literature I have.  We are left with three possibilities of which I can think --- 1) Your treatment w/ chemicals has caused this condition. 2) This variegation has spontainuosly developed in your plant. 3)  Your plant has become infected w/ ''Dasheen mosiac virus", very common in MANY genera of cultivated aroids, it slowly weakens the infected plant over time.   No cure, and infected plants if confirmed should be burnt.  It is spread by sucking insects such as Aphids. But now that the leaf is bigger, it looks to be variegated for sure. I still could be wrong but I think not. It could be the result of mu hormone experiments but I was not trying to induce variegation as I do not know how. Inducing variegation seems to be a closely guarded secret. At any rate, I do not think I could duplicate it. I was trying to increase tuber growth actually. But then again, maybe I did not induce this.
