I madethe experience too and had to learn that especially small tubers arehardly to rescue once they start to rot; the cut surface after cleaningis probably too large in relation to the small tuber'svolume.
Low temperatures ( < 20 °C / 68°F) during dormancy are probably very critical, too.
And keeping titanum totally dry during dormancymight make them prone to rotting, too.
Do asearch for : Amorphophallus storage
at thispage:
http://www.hort.net/lists//aroid-l/search.pl
where some of the older recommendations for storingAmorphophallus species were updated.
Anddon't worry about the prices of the big titanums at ebay; just wait forsmaller ones....
Happy growing,
Bernhard.

Hiall, ...
They had all been sittingdormant for the last 3 - 5 months in soil which was not wet, maybe toodry, I hadnt watered the pots since dormancy, in fact Ive kept these inexactly the same conditions (I will admid here, not ideal) since Igerminated them back in August 2004 and not had one single problem withthem. .... Looking at the price of some of the A Titanumtubers that went on ebay recently, I wont be able to replace them anytime soon either! :( .... Neil
