From: Peter Boyce <phymatarum at googlemail.com> on 2009.07.21 at 00:56:39(19581) Dear All, Recently I have been using two fantastic on-line resourcesfor downloadable pdf digital scans life sciences literature: BiodiversityHeritage Library (http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/)and Botanicus (http://www.botanicus.org/browse)The former is a consortium of 10 major botanical institutes; the latter is basedat Missouri BG. The databases are searchable in a number of different waysand together cover a great deal of the early (and thus often hard to get) aroidliterature, notably that in journals such as Bonplandia, Oesterriches BotanischerWochenblatt and O.B. Zeitschrift, Annales Museum Lugdunum-Batavi, and muchmore. The file download in fast, and its free! Most importantly the scans areof the original literature, as published, and thus for taxonomists very usefulfor checking types, and all the small foibles that can affect publicationstatus.
