According to Joep Moonen who works botanists in the rain forest of French Guiana, Philodendron goeldii is rare. These are his comments:
"In French Guyana the distribution is east from the Kaw Mountains, Comt? river towards the Rio Oiapoque. Obvious that extends to Amap? State, Brazil.
In areas where the species occurs it is very rare.
My specimens come from trees that are fallen and had a goeldii in the crown.
The other Megonostigma, Ph solimoesense occurs al over the forested areas of the Guiana Shield and is less rare but never common. Like goeldii you see them, the big stems often pendant! or curving, in the canopy."
