Dear
Steve:
You are very welcome for the thanks and it is nice to hear that your site is
so successful. Don?t forget to correct the error about Philodendron
brandtianum NOT being 3-lobed ever.

Re: [Aroid-l] Wrong name on Philodendron variifolium
Well, the cat is out of the bag! So let me
take this opportunity to thank Russ and all the people on this forum that help
out with my little website project. I think Russ intended to send this
message to me personally but didn't realize he was responding to Aroid
l.
Russ often edits what I write. Actually, Russ
edits just about everything I write! I just put stuff on the computer
screen and he makes me look good (well, better). But my site has become
a project with the input of a lot of aroiders and I'd like to thank everyone I
can remember at this moment. Dr. Croat is top on the list, he corrects
the bad names on my photographs and sends me information I'm chasing all the
time, sometimes numerous times in a day. We all owe Tom a great
deal for his patience with all of us.
Dr. Eduardo Gonçalves has also provided an
invaluable amount of information. But there are others who help me all
the time. Often daily. Along with Dr. Croat, Julius Boos has
become my personal botany professor. Enid Offolter sends me photos and
information every week. Then there's Joep Moonen. I couldn't make it through a day
without an email from Joep. And there are lots of others
including John Criswick, LariAnn
Garner, Brian Williams, Leland Miyano, Windy Aubrey and many, many
others.
My goal from the beginning has been to provide as
accurate information as possible in an easily understood format. I'm
sure you all know there is a lot of junk information on the internet. My
website project started out as just a personal way to document my own
collection but the crazy thing has taken on a life of its own. I sit
here daily answering emails from people who want to know something about their
plants. Half the time I have to check what I'm about to say with one of
the people I've listed above. We are now receiving approximately 1000
hits per day which I find phenomenal for a little home grown plant
site.
I'd like to invite any of you who have something you
think I need to address, especially errors, to tell me what needs to be
fixed. I try to read every exchange on this forum so I can glean
information to add to the site. My collection is not enormous but I've
got over 300 pages up right now. And it grows daily with at least 100
plants to photograph and document. Feel free to tell me what you know I
need to fix. You will not hurt my feelings.
I'd like to make this the best possible site for
tropical plant lovers on the net. And I owe a great deal to all of you
who have graciously given me help along the way since the
project started 15 months ago. You'll find an invitation to join
the IAS right at the top of the homepage. I have no idea if anyone has
joined as a result but that is the absolute least I can do in exchange for all
the great information members of the IAS
provide.
My thanks to you
all!

Variegation is sure
pretty on the juvenile form of this Philo, Steve. At P1 L1,
'deflex(l)um' error is within a quote, didn't know if you left that in on
purpose.Also, check brandtianum at P2 L3, P4 L1, P3 L3.Check
variifolium at P5 L2.Hope the cool nights are over for the year,
even cool during yesterday and today with wind chill factored in, sweater
weather.Later, Russ
