I can only answer from my own observations. The plant
comes from the rainforests of Panama. I have exchanged emails with
a grower who has a nursery in Panama and as a result of his answers have tried
to duplicate the conditions as best possible.
The plant grows in a high humidity environment as an
epiphyte (in trees). As a result I grow mine in 85% or higher humidity
year round. Mine receives filtered sunlight. The plant is in a
large wooden orchid basket and the roots are packed with humus rich materials
and completely covered with sphagnum moss. The roots have extended
beyond the edges of the wooden basket and are now attached to the wood.
The moss is constantly kept moist and the plant is watered daily in the heat
of the year, 3 to 4 days a week in the winter. It has produced 5 new
leaves in one year, the longest of which is now over 75cm (30 inches).
When I failed to water it as outlined above in December the plant began to
droop and was obviously in need of water. Ever since, I have maintained
the regimen. As a result the plant is now beginning to add another
leaf. Although I have a large number of anthuriums currently in flower,
this one has yet to produce an inflorescence.

Anyone know the storage requirements for this
species? Dry or in soil? Mine's just going down for it's first
nap, so that info would be really handy, Thanks.
