  [Aroid-l] CATE Araceae website
From: "anna haigh" <anabaena at london.com> on 2007.02.08 at 09:51:22(15252)
Dear Aroiders

The CATE Araceae website version 0.1 went online on Tuesday 6th February 2007 at www.cate-araceae.org. This home page explains the general aims and aspirations of the website and the CATE project. A more general explanation of the motivation for the CATE project (Creating a Taxonomic E-Science), not limited to just the aroids, can be found at (http://www.cate-project.org/unitary_taxonomies.html ).

In this first release we have web pages for each genus, with the descriptive information from "Genera of Araceae (S. Mayo, J. Bogner and P. Boyce 1997) and photos. All species of Araceae recognized as currently accepted in Rafael Govaert’s Monocot Checklist (http://www.rbgkew.org.uk/wcsp) are included in the site already, but as yet only the species of Arum have content.

This website is in active development and what you will see right now is only the very first stage. However, we would very much like to have your reactions, so please email admin@cate-araceae.org with your comments.

Other ways of communicating are available. There is a mailing list (http://forge.nesc.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/cate-araceae), where you can complete the online form to subscribe. And there is a wiki (http://wiki.nesc.ac.uk/read/cate?AraceaeRevision), which is useful to exchange documents and post pictures. To edit the wiki please email Ben Clark at admin@cate-araceae.org.

Best wishes

Anna Haigh
