Dear Friends,
Yes, (actually I believe it is now Typhonium vulgaris!). In cooler climes
like Oregon, it and other Cormous/tuberous aroids seem to do well if left
(mulched) in the ground year-round, but her in Florida the cormous/tuberous
aroids such as Caladium, Amorphophallus, etc. sometimes will rot if, during
dormancy, they are left in the ground. Our cool season/"winter", with its
cold/cool then hot then cold again cycles confuse the plant into stopping,
then starting, then stopping growth during these months, so I suggested
removing the plant from the soil/pot, and storing it for the duration of
'winter' in a paper bag kept in a cool place!

Is this Dracunculus vulgaris we're talking about?
Here in Canby, OR zone 7-8 I leave mine planted in the
ground year-round. It has grown, bloomed
successfully, multiplied, and smelled up the
neighborhood (slightly) for more than 20 years. I
never dig it up except to divide clumps and sell some
of the tubers.
