I put it back in new soil and it's still growing. I haven't checked on the tuber. I dug up the tuber in fall and ....nothing. Mine was grown in the ground. At the time I thought it had put all its energy into putting up a large leaf, and didn't have time after that to get carbohydrates or whatever built up to form a new tuber- needed a longer growing period.
