Subject : [Aroid-l] plant identification
Hello Leslie,
Your description sounds like a var. of Arum italicum, an introduction to
your area, I have seen photos of it from out there. STINKY bloom, so it
was/is grown for its attractive foliage in winter, but very imposing, lovely
red berries afterward.
For those who want more information on this genus, I THINK Peter Boyce`s
EXCELLENT book on Arum is still available from the IAS, smallish,
hard-cover, not a cheapee, BUT wonderful COLOR illustrations of the species,
art work of THE highest quality rarely or no longer affordable or available
in publications such as this.
Good growing.

Hi everyone,
I was hoping one of you would be able to help me identify a plant I found
growing in a shaded area outside our rental home in central coastal
California. It has green, arrowhead-shaped leaves with white/silver veins
and is approximately 2 1/2 feet tall. It's tuberous and has many offsets.
It's similar to some of those arrowhead plants you can find in a local
nursery, but more striking. Anyway, I have several photos that I can email
anyone who thinks they might be able to help me.
Thanks so much!
