[Aroid-l] Typhonodorum giganteum

Due to nearly no knowledge on how to handle them, I put it in just earth substrate additional with some perlit. I primary watered just the earth around and not the tuber itself. This is now about 3-4 weeks ago. Did I do something wrong?
