Michael I have also had great luck with Gigantea in the ground here. I
have left pups out for the last two years with good recovery. I would
suggest mulching 6 to 8 inches with a easy to rot mulch. Planted on a
mound in a dry location for winter. Good drainage extra mulch and I
believe you can gain 1 to 2 zones of hardiness.
