Subject: [Aroid-l] Anthurium species help, not hookeri
I am hoping that someone can help me. I have received
a HUGE Anthurium that I assumed was hookeri. It has
been producing prolific amounts of seeds all summer
(which sprout really quickly). I want to be able to
sell these plants with a proper name.
Someone on this list (sorry, I forget who) stated that
the true hookeri has blue seeds. This one has very
bright red ones. They are pushed out of the spadix and
fall from fine fibres similar to magnolias.
I can take pictures of anything necessary to help in
ID. It is still flowering and seeding at the same
time. I must have 6-8 stems in various stages.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I must also state that directing me to a key would be
useless. I have never been able to come out to correct
answers even on things that I know to be correct.
I look forward to hearing responses.
On a side bar, can this (or any Anthurium) be crossed
with A. psuedospectabilis? It is now flowering also.
Both these plants are growing outside in So. CA.
