Dieffenbachia ID from Ecuador

I was given a cutting from somebody's garden plant; they said it was collected near Mera in Pastaza. I've been to those woods and I haven't seen anything even remotely like this one. What's throwing me, I think, is that the leaves are all but solid and the petioles are variegated. Thanks!
