Subject : [Aroid-l] RE: Philodendron stenolobum x P. selloum
(bipinnatifidum)
Hello Friends,
After ruminating for a while, recalling plants I`ve seen, their parentage,
etc., I THINK I`m ready to put my foot in my mouth and go out on a limb in
suggesting what the actual parentage of that hybrid Philo. on e-bay, said
to be P. bipinnatifidum X P. williamsii (stenolobum) probably are---I see
as sure as my head is bald, P. goeldii genes in that plant, and so--it
probably has P. gouldii as one parent, and P. stenolobum as the other,
deff. NOT P. bipinnatifidum.
Eric, that P. 'soledad' probably is a cross of P. stenolobum X P.
bipinnatifidum, exactly the same parentage as P. 'willoum' bred by Aroid
Research and shown on another e-mail.
Good Growing,
Julius
That photo of the P. stenolobum x P. bipinnatifidum
(selloum) looks very similar to a Philodendron a few
south FL nurseries have sold, Philodendron 'Soledad'
Anyone familiar with this Philodendron? We have
several growing here and they look very similar. They
are hardier than P. stenolobum, almost as hardy as P.
bipinnatifidum. Here is a photo of one here at Leu
Gardens;

Hi,
What about these two pages from Aroidia Research?
http://aroidiaresearch.org/willoum.htm

The plant for sale looks more like the 'P. x African
Fantasy' than the 'P. x willoum,' which Aroidia
Research says is the hybrid between P. stenolobum
and
P. selloum.
