Amorpho Identification
|
From: Bruno Matter Bruno.Matter at unibas.ch> on 2001.04.24 at 14:17:42(6254)
Since a few years I grow a Amorpho. abyssinicus who was wild collected
in Kamerun.
Finaly it's flowering but it is lacking the Tube constriction mentioned
in the Amorphophallus Key in Aroideana 19. Also is the Appendix subequal
to the Spathe, so it looks very similar to a small konjac flower.
Has anyone a more detailed description of that species???
Greetings from Switzerland
Bruno

Bruno,
The constriction in the spathe is imperative in abyssinicus. The only way to
get to know more is to send scans of pics or pics themselves. Plants cannot
be generally identified from a few lines of text.
Cheers,
Wilbert

Dear Bruno,
It sounds like this could be VERY interesting---as Wilbert said, we need a
photo of this plant on the list so that it may be identified, there are
several African species of Amorphophallus that are rarely collected, so this
just MAY be one of them! Please arrange to have the plant and flower
photographed as soon as possible!
Sincerely,
Julius Boos,
