Yellow leaf segments in Amorph. albus
|
From: StroWi at t-online.de (StroWi at t-online.de) on 2008.07.11 at 13:21:15(18134)
Aroiders,
would anyone know the cause of the symptoms shown here:
http://www.bildercache.de/anzeige/20080711-111156-515.jpg
This is a leaf from one offset of an Amorphophallus albus; the leaf was
grown from one big tuber with several offsets, but only two offsets show
the symtoms.

This was a request from a member of the German Exoten-Forum; see:

I would not vote for a chimaera as it was suggested in the forum, but
rather for a nutritional disorder or affected roots of that specific
offset.
It is remakable, too, that rather leaf segments further away from the
first branching of the leaf are sowing the symptom, but not the leaf
segments closer to the branchning.
Any suggestions?
Happy growing,
Bernhard.

Hi Bernhard,
This may be a nutrient definciency. Sometimes the growths shoot up and expand so fast I think they may not be getting enough nitrogen. I supplement with a foliar spray. That being said, you should still keep an eye on the plant and isolate it from others. If the yellowing occurs on other leaves even after fertilization, or if the plant exhibits lack of vigor or distorted foliage consistently, discard it.
