It MIGHT be the widely distributed Tacca leoptopetaloides.

roots, I doubt that it is an Amorphophallus since I have never seen an
Amorphophallus tuber like this....
On the other hand I am not Lord P.(rofound)............ :-)

Dear Julius, Bernhard,
No it ain't Tacca. The tubers of Tacca are not condensed stems but real
root-tubers without leaf scars etc.
