Aroid from Ecuador, ID needed please
From: Eric Schmidt <leu242 at yahoo.com> on 2007.02.09 at 21:23:11(15273)
we have an Anthurium that was donated years ago. It
was collected in Ecuador but no other specifics were
given. It is about 2ft tall and has small white
inflorescences. It is hardy for an Anthurium as it has
been growing here in the ground for 4 years. Anyone
know what species this might be? We have several other
specimens of different Anthuriums from Ecuador that
were donated at the same time. I will post photos of
these for identification when they flower in the
future.

Here is the one flowering now;

It looks similar to Anthurium cordatum? But you might want to see what
the experts say first not sure if its found in Ecuador.

Dear Eric:

This Anthurium section Calomystrium but unfortunately there are
probably 50 species in Ecuador. It might be identifiable eventually but
as yet I have prepared no key. Incidentally we are working on a key to
described species of Anthurium using Lucid which will enable you to
determine species which have been described. If you could prepare a good
specimen of this I would be able to get it determined eventually. I
would get it mounted and process it with the other undetermined plants.

Tom
