Title: Amorphophallus titanum blooming
Aroiders,
This is a post from Allan Storjohann at Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, www.myriadgardens.com along with an attachment of a press release on the blooming of an Amorphophallus titanum with an additional photo.
My name is Allan Storjohann, and I manage the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, www.myriadgardens.com . I would like to get the word out that we have a Corpse Flower, Amorphophallus titanum, that is about to bloom. It looks like it will be at it's peak of stink in 8-10 days.

News arrives a day late and I was a dollar
short! My mother, sister and other family members are at our Badger family
reunion in Stillwater, OK. Unfortunately, they were in Oklahoma City
yesterday and won't get the chance to get back to see the infamous! They
all know about it now, so if any of my relatives who reside there get the
chance, there are still 8-10 days left. I hope at least one of them makes
it. Unbelievable! It makes me sick to my stomach to think I was this
close (providing I had gone) and still missed the event. Of course,
if I had gone, I wouldn't have gotten the email and so wouldn't have known about
it........... destiny? AAAAhhheeee!

Why do botanic gardens continue to refer to Amorphophallus titanum as the "Titan Arum" or the "Corpse Flower" and use its correct name just once near the bottom of an article or not at all ? I thought botanic gardens are supposed to educate people.
