Malanga Amarilla (Amarillo?)

From: The Thaumaturgist asitkghosh at yahoo.com> on 2003.05.18 at 18:45:09(10267)
I bought a Malanga amarilla root/bulb from a grocer
yesterday, and planted it last night.
I hadn't seen one before, he had never sold them
before.
Anything special about this, other than possibly the
yellow color?

Dear Asit,
Yes! From a horticultural point of view, the leaves are quite different to
the other Xanthosomas that I have seen in cultivation, they are a beautiful
silver-gray, and there is no naked sinus, it is 'full' all the way down.
texture a bit 'woody', so I use it grated then mixed w/ a little wheat
flour, grated onion, an egg, and use it for dumplings in split-pea soup!
Superb stuff!
Good Growing,
Julius
