Anthurium spectabile conditions
|
From: Albert Huntington balberth at yahoo.com> on 2001.10.02 at 05:34:49(7557)
Hi Aroid Folks,
A question for those of you having success growing Anthurium spectabile... Is
it your experience that this plant likes the really warm lowland tropical
conditions, or does it do better under somewhat cooler temperatures? Mine has
been doing fairly well for several years, but experiences periodic setbacks,
and I'm working on identifying the causes...
Thanks for your input,

To Albert:
My Anthurium spectabile does ok in the hot Subtropical conditions of
South Florida. When does your A. spectrabile suffer this setback
problem? Could it Possibly due to seasonal fluctuations in humidity
rather than temperature per se or are your conditions fairly stable?

Typically in the late summer to early autumn, new growth may cease and some
of the young growth actually aborts and melts. It is probably not humidity
fluctuations because the plant is in the hot side of my greenhouse, which is
humidity controlled. Temperatures are 70F minimum, around 90F maximum, but do
not reach the maximum in the colder seasons. Humidity is maintained around
70-80%.
