Just got scanned pics from Matyas of his plants and those ARE the real A.
abyssinicus, so maybe you have the right thing after all. In Matyas' plants
the constriction between base and limb of the spathe is quite obvious
though!

What has happened in the past is that Matyas sent me a tuber of his
colelcted bunch and this particular one turned out to be Typhonium venosum.
So, probably you have the real A. abyssinicus.
Ask Matyas to send you one of his scans, so you may compare.
