Mr. Stinky Returns
This morning it was discovered that our famous FG 931146B Amorphophallus
titanum, a.k.a. Mr. Stinky, is in the process of blooming. The inflorescence
in currently 24" tall but the white spadix can only be seen by carefully
opening the scape bract. Starting next week there will be regular updated to
Fairchild Garden's web site with daily measurements. There will be new
photos added over the course of the Titans development. Keep tuned for
further developments. Titan Watch begins in earnest!
Amorphophallus gigas: the huge inflorescence had its most fragrant day
yesterday. It will begin to deteriorate over the next several days.
Amorphophallus haematospadix opened up. It isn't huge but it is very
beautiful.
Amorphophallus prainii: a second smaller flower opened up yesterday

Ooh, I think I feel a road trip coming on! Craig, do you have any (even
the remotest) idea of when the inflorescence might open? I think it took
Mr. Stinky about 16 days from this point in 1998 to open- time enough to
get a cheap (relatively speaking) flight!

Craig,
When are we going ot get another picture on the webpage?
It's been 4 days since there was a picture and I'd be fascinated to see
another picture of it now (given how much it changed in height between may
1st and 2nd).
Given it is growing at something around 4 inches a day it must be amazing
to actually be there to see it grow.
Thanks for the regular updates. I check the page daily to see if it has
been updated. Now I just want to put in a vote for another picture to be
added.
Cheers.
