Strange Rhaphidophora
|
From: "Peter Boyce" p.boyce at rbgkew.org.uk> on 2000.10.02 at 19:52:28(5494)
Folks
You'll recall that a while back there was a discussion about the odd
Rhaphidophora that flowers behind the appressed leaves.
While at Fairchild for the IAS Annual, Craig Allen (who's the first
person to have flowered it) and myself made fertile herbarium
specimens of the Fairchild plant. It's an as yet undescribed
species (to be called R. cryptantha - meaning 'hidden flower) that
Craig and I are going to describe in a paper on the New Guinea and
Pacific Rhaphidophora species to be published in the Garden's
Bulletin Singapore early next year.

I hope you will drop this list a note when the paper is published so we can
pick up a copy.
Thanks!
