Amorphophallus gigas blooming at Fairchild
|
From: "FTG Conservatory, Craig Allen" conserv at netrox.net> on 2000.08.02 at 15:22:44(5202)
For those fans of the giant Amorphophallus gigas
Two plants are about to bloom in the Conservatory here at Fairchild Tropical
Garden. Today Tue. Aug. 1st one is 3' tall and another app. 2', but I expect
that to change rapidly. They will be displayed in the public benched area
behind the epiphyte display. I will try to keep people informed on their
progress.

Geez Craig,
You couldn't persuade them to hold off for 6 weeks or so?

Have you ever tried to stop the inevitable... When these things decide to
bloom I just try to keep out of their way and keep them from poking a hole
in my roof.
