Although most of my plants are doing well, I have lost a few
"leaves"(Amorph) already in this season. ((The cause of which has been
mostly due to my area being bombarded ceaselessly from almost non stop high
winds. The leaves of some had taken so much damage that they just finally
gave up, and withered.)).
The first one to go, (an unknown) I left in the soil hoping to get another
leaf. After inspecting a month later, the tuber (which I had cleaned and
repotted after the leaf died back) was rotten and gone.
The second one, (another unknown) I removed the tuber from the soil and am
just letting it dry out as if it is in full dormancy (don't want to risk
losing another tuber).
The third, was my "beloved" konjac specimen (beloved because it was my
biggest). Since it was early in the growing season, (and the Florida
season is prob. considerably longer than konjacs native environment) I
figured I would attempt to truly trick it back into growing a new leaf. I
lifted the tuber, washed it, and let it dry out for a few days. I then put
it into my refrigerator (where I intend on leaving it for about 3 weeks)
The goal here is obviously to make the tuber think a winter has come and
gone.
Has anyone ever tried this kind of thing before and if so, with any success?
Thanks
Marc Burack
