Storage of Amorph tubers.
|
From: Marcin Wielicki shagar at silesia.top.pl> on 2000.06.10 at 00:37:47(4692)
Hello Aroiders,
My A.gigas has just skiped into dormancy, and I am not sure, how to store
properly the tuber. I removed tuber from the pot, cleaned the tuber from
the soil and finally cut off all the roots. As I know, it shouldn`t be
stored out of soil, but should soil be kept slightly wet or rather dry till
plant breaks out of resting period?
Warm regards

Marcin,
Keep it in moderately moist soil, or JUUUUST a bit dry and inspect the tuber
quite regularly. It belongs to a group of species that have a very short
dormancy in cultivation, maybe as short as a month. When the bud grows
again, start watering. Next time, don't cut off the roots, at least not the
fresh ones. They often remain on the tuber when in soil, for a long time and
this might just be a hint.
Cheers,
Wilbert
