These are certainly popular photographs!
It looks to be a another manifestation of macrorrhizos
(spadix appendix not wider than the male flower zone, spathe limb attenuate and
not fornicate, sinus without leaf tissue.

I have this
Alocasia some years now, it is of unknown origin (found the plant in a friend's
garden together with A. odora). Flowers resemble A. odora, but the spathe is
more pointy towards its apex.
The plant
is upright, hardy, forms a "trunk" (much like A. odora, but faster
for the same conditions). Leaf blade has a maximum length of 1 meter (3feet) in
perfect conditions. Usually half of this.
