Dear Neil,

If there is no chlorophyll at all in the plant, it will not survive. To produce the first leaf, it spent all the substances stored in the seed, but if will not form a tuber because of lack of chlorophyll responsible for production of all the matter.

If it was partially green (variegated) there would be a chance, just like a mutation of Spathiphyllum I have.
It grows very slowly, since a few months it is growing in a small greenhouse made in an empty aquarium and it's becoming stronger.
I append also 2 photos how it looks today.

best,
Marek

Subject: [Aroid-l] Amorphophallus Chlorophyll missing?

Ive got a new batch of Amorph. Titanum seeds on the go, but one of them seems to be missing the green bit most plants figure out early in life.

Its had the same light levels as the others, grown in the same place, not the biggest and not the smallest, nor the first or last in its batch to open a leaf.

Its just not going green (like the one behind it which hasnt opened its first leaf properly yet.)

Anyone got any clues, will it die, or will it keep growing in this mutated colour?

Thanks
Neil
