[Aroid-l] Strange Amorphophallus Titanum Growth

My Titanum is about ready to leaf out and it has developed a strange growth. =3B It started out right at the base and now several inches have been added below it. =3B When it first appeared it looked a little open=2C but has since scabed over and left a scar and a swollen area. =3B Anyone have any ideas what could have caused it? =3B It looks healthy otherwise. =3B Thanks.
