Some species of tuberous aroids=2C even in genera such as Amorphophallus=2C Dracontium and Arisaema=2C in which =3B most species in GENERAL go dormant=2C have species which grow in perpetually ''wet'' areas=2C these do no NEED to go dormant.. =3B Let the species name ''amazonense'' tip you off! =3B =3B There seldom is a dry period in the Amazon region where this species occurs naturally! =3B =3B There are a few other species of Dracontium (D. spruceanum comes to mind) which can be grown year-long with no dormant period. =3B One can ''force'' dormancy by letting the pot dry out=2C but most growers would not recomend this. =3B The late Lynn Hannon was one who had them grow all year=2C keeping them moist.

I have had this species for some time=2C and I see no pattern to dormancy=2C which sometimes never occurs=2C at least here in Florida. I have heard that drying them out will induce dormancy=2C but have never tried this?
