Howdy!

If it is a cyanobacteria(bluegreen algae) they can often be killed with a good strong dose of antibiotics. The antibiotics usually leave the fish and plants alone.

You might also try algae eatingshrimp. These are freshwater shrimp in the family Atyidae, in the generaCaridina and Neocaridina. These animals have brushes of setae on their clawsand use the brushes to scrape algae and periphyton from the substrates. Theycan be amazingly effective at eating green and some brown algaes, but they willnot touch cyanobacteria.

Good luck,

Christopher

Hello,

Arethe large plants (like Colocasia) in pots?

Idon't think they would grow good in so shallow gravel.

Whatfertilizers do they use?

Ialso have a problem with long brown algae in a classical aquarium,

anyfish doesn't eat them, and I don't know what to use not to killplants and fishes.

Thealgae grow on everything, on plants, wood, stones and even on glass.

Ireduced the lighting form 60W to 30W, but they still grow slowlykilling the plants.

Thedimensions of my tank are 100x40x50 cm (40x16x20 inches) - about 200 l.

Cananybody help?

Marek

I posted a note a week or two ago about DevinBiggs' aquatic aroid website.  These are some of his newest photos of a 65gallon tank:

He said he thought the tank was looking "pretty good".=C2=A0 I'd say that is a major understatement!

Devin will be at the IAS show in Miami next week.=C2=A0 If you like to grow aquatics you'd be wise to find him!=C2=A0
I promise I will!
