Dear all Aroidophyles=2C
A note to all who read this L=2C and a word of sincere thanks to Pete for this one! =3B I wonder how many of us stopped for just a moment to ponder (and be VERY thankful!!!) of how VERY fortunate we all are to have THE world experts at most or ALL families of Araceae=2C people such as Peter Boyce (Indonesia)=2C Wilbert Hetterschied (Holland)=2C Tom Croat (USA)=2C Eduardo Goncalves (Brazil=2C Alistair Hay (Australia) and even Simon Mayo (UK) and this leaves out MANY other individuals who take the time from their busy schedules to answer querries made to this forum! I know a little about Syngonium=2C but certainly did NOT know about this retention of one leaf-shape (Heteroblasty!) through the growth-cycle of this Syngonium species! On behalf of the IAS=2C a heartfelt word of thanks to you guys/experts out there! Now go ahead and join the IAS=2C we SO need your financial =3B support!!! =3B :--)
Julius Boos.

At Kew S. chiapense got to 10 m before it flowered. >=3B >=3B Best >=3B >=3B Peter >=3B >=3B -----Original Message----- >=3B From: aroid-l-bounces@gizmoworks.com [mailto:aroid-l-bounces@gizmoworks.com] >=3B On Behalf Of Helmut Reisenberger >=3B Sent: 06 May 2009 17:15 >=3B To: Discussion of aroids >=3B Subject: Re: [Aroid-l] Philodendron "SCH=D6NBRUNNER HYBRID" >=3B >=3B Hello Ferenc=2C Hi all ! >=3B >=3B thanks for your contribution to the identification. You make me sure it is a >=3B Syngonium. But what makes this species never to develop adult leaves=2C which >=3B are characteritic for the species? I have grown some plants (which easily >=3B grow from rooted cuttings) to some meters high under rainforest conditions >=3B (substrate=2C climbing support=2C temperature=2C humidity). The stem of some are >=3B more than 4 cm thick and the leaves are=2C still in the heartshaped manner=2C >=3B more than 70 cm long. They never produced any inflorescense (how could >=3B they?). >=3B Maybe anybody out there in the araceae crowd can offer an adult species of >=3B Syngonium macrophyllum (preferably in Europe)? >=3B I would like to cut an adult plant up to root the cuttings and to see what >=3B happens. >=3B >=3B g.gr. Next time I will >=3B >=3B take care of it. >=3B >=3B Thank you for all the answers. Yes=2C it has a white sap when cut. So it >=3B must be the juvenile >=3B >=3B form of a Syngonium sp.=2C possibly S. macrophyllum. >=3B >=3B The unknown plant on the aroid webpage mentioned by Marek Argent is very >=3B similar=2C >=3B >=3B however=2C it has a shiny surface while the upper surface of the leaves of >=3B my plant is slightly >=3B >=3B velvety. >=3B >=3B If anybody is interested in the attached pics=2C I have reduced their size >=3B and put them on the >=3B >=3B Internet.
