ABSTRACT: Notwithstanding the phenolic acid profile that reinforces the earlier flavonoid chemistry and a few resemblances, the totality of evidence from diverse disciplines outweighs the similarities between Acorus and allied taxa. Hence an independent familial status for Acorus is preferred over a sequestered status in Araceae.
