| | ABSTRACT: For years I had been at least a little jealous every time I talked to anyone who had been on a plant collecting trip. It didn't make any difference where they had been. It could be Central or South America, Southeast Asia, or any other place in the tropics. Even when I merely read an article about a trip, I would be jealous. Well I'm not jealous anymore! l've made my first trip; now I can't understand why I never went before. I'm sure fear of the unknown had some bearing on it.
