Anthurium bredemeyeri Schott. a Venezuelan endemic in Section Xialophyllium. is redefined and redescribed. Five additional species. all members of Section Porphyrochitonium and previously confused with A bredemeyeri. are described as new. These are A bemardii. AJemandezii, A gehrigeri. A gonzalezii. and A smithii.
