Etymology: Named for Dr. Edwin L. Tyson, an early collector of the species.

Distribution: Known only from the type locale atop Cerro Jefe, in Panama

Sectional Placement: section Calomystrium

Description: Planta plerumque terrestris; cataphyllum coriaceum persistens intactum; petiolus anguste et acute sulcatus adaxiale, multicostatus abaxiale, 26-58 cm longus; lamina modice coriacea, ovata, basi profunde cordata, lamina modice coriacea, ovata, basi profunde cordata, (16-)28-48 cm longa, (11-)22-36 cm lata; inflorescentia erectra; pedunculus 10-24 cm longus; spatha subcoriacea, pallide viridis, ovata ad late lanceolata, 6-10 cm longa, 2-4.5 cm lata; spadix pallide viridis ad cremeus, purpurescens per anthesin, (4.5-)6-10 cm longus; baaccae immaturae albae ad pallide purpureae.
